The Creative Process

Currently I am in the process of updating my collection of works to a digital platform. Being an artist in the digital age, I believe it is key to keep updated on current trends in technology. While I love drawing digitally, I will always start with a sketch in my sketchbook. I do this to work through all the details a new image can have. Once I got some good advice from a professor in college. That advice was: Not every work will be good. Sometimes you do ten bad works before you land on a good one. This is why I will continue to use a sketchbook, as it allows me to work through my drawings so I am able to land on that one good one.

Once I have created an image from a drawing, I then transfer it over to a digital program. Preferably Adobe Photoshop. Though, I am also familiar with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Autodesk Sketchbook. This process can take anywhere from one to five hours depending on the image and what program I use. When life is not hectic, I can get through two or three images a day. If I am not doing anything that day I spend all day drawing both by hand and digitally. Illustrating is a not only what I want to do for a living, but something I enjoy doing and have great passion for.

Bellow are some examples of what a final work would be for that process. Please keep in mind these images are set to be printed and are set to a CMYK color preset that is provided in Adobe Photoshop and other programs. Sizes for Images may vary. For reference: images set to standard pixel sizes for what that image is used for.
